The Science of the Fault
What is the Audi J852 Module?
The Audi ACC Camera (Internal designation J852) is the “eye” of your vehicle’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Located behind the rearview mirror, it works in tandem with the radar sensors (J428) in the front grille.
The Root Cause: Thermal Fatigue & Decaying Solder
The primary failure in these units is the Image Processing Chip. Because the camera is mounted against the windshield, it is subjected to extreme thermal cycles—baking in the hot sun and cooling rapidly when the A/C is turned on.
Over time, the lead-free solder spheres underneath the BGA (Ball Grid Array) chip develop microscopic “intergranular fractures.” This breaks the video line for image processing, triggering the C110702 Signal Error.

Because we repair your original unit, the physical alignment is usually preserved. In most cases, no dealer recalibration is required. If your camera was removed carefully, it’s plug-and-play.
If the board is physically burnt or the processor is dead then reflowing will not work. In this situation we are unable to help and you need to contact a dealer for a replacement module. If we find an issue that we believe is causing an issue that wil not be solved by our reflow work then we will send detailed images and ask for confirmation.
Yes, we provide a 12-month warranty on our reflow service. If the hardware fails again within a year, we will rework it at no cost
Used units from eBay often have the same thermal fatigue. You may buy a part that fails a week later. Our rebuild “bulletproofs” the connection with updated thermal handling. In addition, eBay ACC Camera Units may require factory coding using dealer level programming tools.
